Everything about this shiny portable media player seems to be "super", including its name. Therefore, the Oppo Super Five PMP deserves its wacky name. The player's design is very simple, compact and its main attraction seem to be its generously and unusually super wide 3 inch screen display with QVGA resolution.
Regarding
its capabilities, the player is said to be able to handle a super wide array of file formats, such as RM, RMVB, FLV, DAT, MPEG, AVI, 3GP video files, as well as some common ones like OGG, MP3, WMA and WAV. The Oppo displays photos in JPEG, BMP, GIF and PNG file formats.
No to mention it can also read dual-APE, FLAC Lossless audio files. Sadly, the fellows from Oppo only managed to include a poor 2GB internal memory with no possibility of using an extra card slot, whatsoever…which kind of sucks if you have to travel and want to take plenty of your favorite music content with you.
Apparently, Oppo only allows the 2GB and nothing more. Its size is a convenient one for a portable media player of its kind. It measures 87mm x 54 mm x 11mm and weighs only 76 grams, but I wouldn't advise you to wear it in the pockets of your jeans, for anesthetic reasons, of course.
Still, the Super version cannot be compared to the previous Blast PMP. The Blast was also the first one to introduce the DBEE, such as the dynamic bass enhanced engine. The Blast has better memory capacities also, supporting Transflash storage.
If you plan on buying one of these, you should know that the media player retails for about 120 bucks. I guess it is a good deal, if you don't want a 160GB iPod to go all the while. After all, Oppo has plenty of things to do to cope up with the giant Apple.
