Developed by two former members of the GTA development team

Car Jack Street is a mobile game that has you hijacking cars, and then driving them around a city to complete various missions.

If it sounds a bit like GTA, that’s because it was developed by two former members of the original GTA development team at DMA Design. The two signed a publishing contract with I-play for Car Jack Streets, so any kind of mystery regarding the similarities with GTA is hopefully solved.

Just like the original GTA, this game employs a top-down viewpoint, which uses less processing power, thus making it more suitable for mobile phones.

In the game, players will have to clear their $1 million dollar gambling debt whatever way they can, so missions will range from delivering pizza and driving a taxi to killing people. Also, just like in GTA, players will be able to accept only the missions they want, or just choose to explore the city. The ultimate aim is to pay back $50,000 every real-world week.

"You can play for 10-15 minutes five or six times a week to make the $50,000, or you can do it all in one sitting," says TAG boss Paul Farley.

"There are 12 missions that are always available, like driving taxis, delivering pizzas and stealing cars to sell at the docks," says Farley. "And then every real-life day, there'll be 4-5 missions generated that are more criminal in nature, like robbing a bank, carrying out a hit or delivering a package."

Players will be given a decent selection of cars, all of which all handle differently, while they will also be able to pick various weapons to help them put a little firepower in the mission.

Car Jack Streets will be a Java and a BREW game for Europe and North America, and should be released before Christmas. See the game trailer here.
