The truck driver responsible with towing the totaled Nissan is a prime suspect

On January 26, N.Y. state police was faced not only with investigating the car crash that killed 8-month-old Brianna Dastine of Spring Valley, but also with the theft of $700 worth of gaming equipment of which towing trucker Thomas J. Brunell III had been considered responsible.

The trucker admitted to entering the 1998 Nissan Quest minivan, involved in the January 26th accident, to take a Sony PlayStation3 console, controller and a PlayStation2 video game. The theft however hadn't been noticed until state police at the Perryville barracks towed the vehicle to headquarters and noticed that the reported belongings of the owners were not inside.

Brunell hadn't taken the gaming system and games right at the scene of the accident; he had planned to steal the PS3 console with controller and PS2 game after towing the damaged vehicle of the eastbound Interstate 78 near Exit 15. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't a little girl die in that car? How did Mr. Trucker find it totally OK to steal something out of a crashed car which was supposed to go under investigation? Any object in the car could have later proven to be crucial in solving the case and even if that hadn't been the case, why didn't Brunell have any remorse in stealing from a car in which a little girl had died only hours before?

Why am I so surprised anyway? We've heard crazier stuff, like that kidnapper of two kids who only wanted to play on Final Fantasy XI.
