Austria's Schönbrunn Zoo is now home to three baby capybaras. The pups were born at this facility on November 21 and, according to the keepers in charge of looking after them, are all healthy and active.

Despite being still very young, the pups have already gone for a swim with their mom in the pool inside the family's enclosure.

Apparently, capybaras are very good swimmers by nature, which is why keepers were not in the least concerned about letting these three furballs venture in the water.

According to Zoo Borns, the pups were born after a six-month gestation period. They are growing quickly and will soon stop following their mother around and instead go about exploring their surroundings on their own.

The species is native to South America, and they presently the world's largest rodents. According to wildlife researchers, they are related to Guinea pigs. Unlike the latter, however, they can grow to measure as much as 1.6 feet (50 centimeters) in height.
