Capcom has revealed some good news for old-time fans of classic action platforming, the release date for six Mega Man games for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console.

The games will be put on sale on the eShop starting May 1, and gamers will be able to rekindle memories of a time long past with Mega Man 2 to Mega Man 5 for the Game Boy and Mega Man Xtreme and Mega Man Extreme 2 for Game Boy Color.

The games are for now headed to North America only and will join the existing Game Boy titles Mega Man: Dr Wily's Revenge and the other half-dozen NES Mega Man games available on the Virtual Console service.

The Capcom Unity blog is also hosting a poll in order to determine which game launches first on May 1, with the remaining games to be released each subsequent Thursday throughout the month of Mega May, as cleverly dubbed by the publisher.

The migration of the Mega Man games to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console was initially announced last year in July, and for now there is no word regarding a European release of the six titles, although the July 2013 announcement mentioned that the games would also become available in Europe.
