Canonical has a very dedicated team building the Mir display server, and they are updating it on a constant basis. Version 0.1.2 has just been released.

The Mir display server has missed the Ubuntu 13.10 development cycle, but Canonical is pushing for an Ubuntu 14.10 release.

Highlights of Mir Display Server 0.1.2:

• An API enumerations cleanup has been performed; • A display that renders its output to offscreen buffers has been added; • OffscreenPlatform now provides the services that the offscreen display needs from the Platform; • A fullyish functional Udev wrapper has been added; • Resize support to client surfaces has been implemented; • Resize support has been added to *ClientBuffer classes; • Width and height have been added to the protocol Buffer messages.

A complete list of improvements can be found in the official changelog. Download Mir Display Server 0.1.2 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
