Lightworks is a professional editing application

Lightworks and Canonical have teamed up and they are looking for people who use the application suite for their projects. Those sending their work will be getting voucher codes for Lightworks Pro.

There are just a handful of professional editing solutions right now and that number takes into consideration all the platforms, Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X. It took some time, but now Linux can also pride itself with a professional editing application that can finally try to match up with stuff like Final Cut or Adobe Premiere.

Building this kind of software is not easy and it took the guys from EditShare quite some time to get it ready, but they released Lightworks Pro 12.0 a while ago and it had great success. It's easy to install and to configure, although the interface is a little bit different and will take a while to adapt to.

Lightworks is an excellent application

The makers of this application want to know if you are using Ubuntu, and if so, then you are welcome to send work and videos made with this application. You don't have to go through any competition, just send them your work and you'll be rewarded.

"Over the next few weeks, we're looking for an Editor to share their Lightworks experience on Ubuntu - the selected participant will have their story on show, to millions around the world. If Ubuntu is your operating system of choice and you are currently cutting or have cut some exciting footage on Lightworks (Feature Film, Documentary, Sport or Music Video, etc) we would love to hear from you!"

Users can send an email to ubuntu at lwks.com (replace at with @) and tell the team about how you're using Lightworks on Ubuntu and what you need in order to improve that experience.

People will get something in return for their work, meaning voucher codes for Lightworks Pro. Also, they will be "contacted by the team to represent Lightworks and Canonical." It's not clear what that means, but it definitely sounds like something interesting.
