On March 1, Canonical published in a security notice details about a Firefox regression for its Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, and Ubuntu 11.10 operating systems.

According to Canonical, due to a regression, Firefox could have crashed or frozen under normal use.

USN-1729-1 fixed a few vulnerabilities in Mozilla Firefox. This update also introduced a regression which sometimes resulted in freezes and crashes, when using multiple tabs with images displayed.

For a more detailed description of the security problems, you can visit Canonical's security notification.

The security flaws can be fixed if you upgrade your system(s) to the latest Firefox package, specific to each distribution. To apply the update, run the Update Manager application.

After a standard system update, you need to restart the application in order to make all the necessary changes.
