Canonical has a very dedicated team building the Mir display server, and they are updating it on a constant basis. Version 0.1.4 has just been released.

The Mir displayer server has missed the Ubuntu 13.10 development cycle, but Canonical is pushing for an Ubuntu 14.10 release. However, it is not yet certain whether it will be available before its launch.

Highlights of Mir Display Server 0.1.4:

• A Mir pixel format parameter has been added to DisplayConfiguration::configure_output; • The rule list has been fixed to match the function parameter placement with the examples; • A build dependency for Android has been added; • The surface texture is now cached on the GPU to eliminate duplicate uploads; • A Mir pixel format utility function has been added to query details about MirPixelFormat.

A complete list of improvements can be found in the official changelog. Download Mir Display Server 0.1.4 right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
