Canonical was present at the dConstruct event that took place in Brighton, Great Britain, and taught everyone how to make unicorn origami.

As most of you already know, Canonical is scheduled to release its upcoming operating system, Ubuntu 14.10, which has been dubbed Utopic Unicorn, in October 2014. If the previous code name used for the 14.04 LTS version was Trusty Tahr and it was a little difficult to work with, the new one is rather inviting.

“Our ‘Make your Unicorn’ competition had a fantastic response. To celebrate the coming release of Utopic Unicorn and of the BQ phone, the maker of the best origami unicorn being awarded a new phone. The crowd did not hesitate to tackle the complex paper-bending challenge and came up with a bunch of creative outcomes,” says Canonical's Giorgio Venturi.

Canonical published the plans to make your own unicorns from scratch and you can download the PDF from here. Be careful though, the plans for the origami unicorn are for people who have a lot of patience.

Another interesting piece of information is that the Ubuntu team is zeroing in the final version of the operating system and they are already using Bq phones for demos. The fall launch window for Ubuntu Touch seems to be on schedule.
