Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) is almost upon us and the developers are integrating the final touches to the operating system. The last additions have been made to the speed of the animations.

Not many people remember, but Ubuntu 13.04 has a very annoying problem. The speed of the minimize and maximize animations was extremely slow. Users had to tweak it with compiz and no one is happy to do that.

Canonical eventually fixed the problem in a later update, but I noticed the same issues with this latest development version of Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander).

Fortunately, the problem has been fixed with the latest sets of updates and with the integration of a new version of Unity. The speed of the animations have been greatly enhanced and everything works as it should.

On a side note, the Unity update also fixed the applications switching between applications that reside on different desktops.

Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander) is expected to arrive on October 17.
