According to Canonical, GPSd could have been made to crash or possibly run programs if it received specially crafted input.
GPSd was discovered to have incorrectly handled certain malformed GPS data. An attacker could use this issue to cause GPSd to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code.
The security flaws can be fixed if you upgrade your system(s) to the latest libxml2 package, specific to the distribution. To apply the update, run the Update Manager application.
