Canonical launched a referral Ubuntu Edge contest a while ago and a winner has been chosen from the myriad of participants.

The rules for the Ubuntu Edge contest were pretty simple and users had to use their skills to promote the IndieGoGo crowd-funding campaign the best that they could.

“His excellent video, Ubuntu Edge: Explained, has been watched over 130,000 times, and that global attention has driven a huge number of new contributions to the campaign.”

“When we hit our funding goal, a personalised Ubuntu Edge will be going to tech video blogger Marques Brownlee, of MKBHD. Congratulations!” reads the announcement on the Ubuntu Edge IndieGoGo website.

In the meantime, Canonical is still trying to raise enough money for the project and it has just passed 25% of its final goal. The next couple of weeks will be crucial for the campaign and for the success of Ubuntu Edge.

Ubuntu Edge is a phone developed by Canonical and it's scheduled for launch in May 2014. More details about the price and the specifications can be found in our initial report.
