14 DAY TRIAL // Canonical has announced the Ubuntu SDK, a new set of tools that is primed and ready to help users develop applications of the Ubuntu environment.
Even if it's still in the beta stages, the Ubuntu SDK comes with some pretty important features. One of the most prominent ones will help Android developers to port their applications to Ubuntu Touch with great ease.
“The SDK provides a set of APIs that includes the UI toolkit, enabling developers to create responsive and interactive applications with a native Ubuntu mobile UI.
“Qt Creator is an IDE with a visual interface for writing, testing and deploy applications; its API documentation and a developer site full of resources and tutorials make it easy to produce quality applications,” stated the official announcement.
The installation of the Ubuntu SDK is pretty straightforward and it's done with the help of a PPA. Just open a terminal and enter the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-sdk-team/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install ubuntu-sdk
