Landscape, a tool developed by Canonical that can be used to manage enterprise-grade systems for large deployments of Ubuntu desktops, servers and cloud instances, has been upgraded.

Canonical thinks this latest update to Landscape will help IT departments cut their costs in a significant manner.

A research conducted by Enterprise Management Associates revealed the fact that if Landscape were used to manage 1000 Ubuntu desktops, the cost of the IT department would go down by two thirds. “At this scale come manageability challenges. Landscape - part of Ubuntu Advantage - is the fastest, most cost-effective, and most reliable way to address these challenges."

"System administrators are more productive within days, and compliance can be assured,” Zaid Al Hamami, director of Product Management at Canonical, said in the announcement.

Landscape can be purchased as a hosted service or as a dedicated server, and Canonical provides a 30-day trial.
