Canon has just released a new firmware version for its EOS 5D Mark III DSLR camera, the details of which have been covered in a recent article. Also, the new Photo Category on our site will keep you updated with what's new in the digital photography world.

To update your camera, download the archive, extract its contents to an accessible location and fully charge the batteries.

Insert an SD or CF memory card in the camera and format it. Then use a card reader to connect it to your PC or Mac. Copy the firmware update file to the root directory of the removable storage device and then safely remove it.

Next, with the camera powered off, rotate the mode dial to “P” and insert the memory card. Turn on the device and press the menu button. Navigate to “Set-up” and select “Firmware ver. x.x.x” then use the quick control dial to start the update.

When the process is complete, a message will be displayed. Turn the camera off and remove the battery for at least two seconds. Format the memory card before using it again.

If you own this particular Canon camera, download and install the new Canon EOS 5D Mark III camera firmware in order to stay “updated one minute ago.”
