The new EOS-b will be accompanied by an 18-55m lens

Canon probably didn't mean for its latest camera to find its way to online retailers before it got a chance to formally introduce it, but it will have to grin and bear it because that it exactly what happened.

Fortunately for the company, all signs suggest that Canon was about to officially release it very soon, so it won't lose too much because of BestBuy jumping the gun.

Indeed, US online retailer BestBuy is where the device showed up ahead of its time, although we have to sadly announce that no photos were included in the listing.

At any rate, the newcomer is a DSLR photo and video camera called EOS-b and priced at a solid $800, which is the same as 619 Euro, give or take, according to exchange rates.

Then again, knowing how seldom exchange rates matter in these matters, it is more probable that the EOS-b will sell for 800 Euro in Europe instead.

The specifications are similar to those of the T4i and EOS M: a 2-inch 1.04K dot TFT-LCD touchscreen, four frames-per-second burst shots, nine-point autofocus system, an ISO range (light sensitivity) of 100 to 12,800 (a high setting of 25,600 is possible as well) and HD video capture.

A Digic 5 image processor is responsible for the image and video quality.

There are some extras though, which set the EOS-b apart from those two: an optical viewfinder, pop-up flash. Further information can be found on the specifications section here.

Sadly, we don't know exactly when the APS-C shooter will officially be announced, and the pre-order BestBuy page doesn't say.

People who are particularly impatient can reserve one, assuming they are willing to part with the sum we have mentioned above, but we would advise against it, since these things tend to get cheaper once availability formally ramps up.
