Canon enthusiasts have a reason to rejoice today, as their favorite photo maker has launched a white version of its EOS 100D digital SLR camera.

The camera announcement is complemented by the arrival of Canon’s EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens also in white, so photographers will be able to match the two elements.

Apart from the white paint job, the EOS 100D is identical in specifications with the original. It remains the world’s smallest and lightest APS-C digital SLR camera and comes equipped with an 18-megapixel APS-C Hybrid CMOS sensor with 9 auto focus points.

The camera is paired with Canon’s DIGIC 5 image processor, capable of shooting ISO 100 – 12,800 (expandable to 25,600) at up to four frames per second.

The camera is targeted at hobbyist photographers and includes a lot of user-friendly features that will help those just getting acquainted with the field.

For example, the camera comes with an intelligent auto scene-selection mode and a creative filter-selection feat.

The EOS 100D has a 3-inch LCD touchscreen and an optical viewfinder which covers 95% of the frame at 0.87x magnification.

The white edition EOS 100D will become available for sale in the UK starting this May for £499 / $838 / €606 for both camera body and kit lens.
