14 DAY TRIAL // A new patent has been spotted by Japanese forum Egami, regarding a new and improved Dual Pixel CMOS Auto-Focus system that will be probably used in future Canon digital cameras.
According to this new patent, the next Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus system will come with an improved and more sensitive sensor, making Live View performance as fast as the traditional viewfinder autofocus.
Canon's Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology unlocks the full potential of the Live View mode by adding a smooth and consistent autofocus similar to that found on professional camcorders.
The same technology allows you to autofocus without using the viewfinder faster-than-ever, while both capturing light and performing phase-difference detection. The Dual Pixel CMOS Autofocus was first introduced on the Canon EOS 70D digital camera.
