Renowned Japanese optics manufacturer and one of the current market leaders in photographic equipment, Canon, has recently unveiled their second mirrorless camera model, the EOS M2.

While the US and European Canon branches declared that the new interchangeable-lens model won't be released on either of the two continents (at least for now), Canon's choice of revealing the EOS M2 model only on the Asian market took everyone by surprise.

According to Exposure Magazine, the new EOS M2 model will be even more exclusive than that. Sintra Wong, Canon division manager at PT Datascrip Indonesia, says that Canon has no plan to distribute their new mirrorless model in South and Southeast Asia region and that Canon's product strategy is based on the current market demand.

Recent sales figures point to Asia as the best market for interchangeable-lens cameras, with Japan holding around 16% of the worldwide mirrorless camera sales. At the same time, sales in Europe are on the rise, while the US market is still hard to conquer.

That being said, it seems logical for Canon to focus all their efforts on the Asian market and leave Europe and the US on second place.
