Canon has made available a brand new firmware update for the owners of the EOS 5D Mark III camera that comes with several fixes, including a much requested adjustment that addresses an issue with the SpeedLite 600EX-RT flash.

The AF microadjustment value that was changed by the camera on some rare occasions to -8 and addressed with Firmware version 1.2.1, has been further improved with this new Firmware version.

Moreover, Firmware 1.2.3 comes with a fix for the LCD monitor that sometimes can show a line of false color along high contrast boundaries. Users who reported an incorrect display of the histogram of a LiveView image while an HDMI cable was connected, can now rest assured that this problem is fixed.

In addition to that, the new Firmware also enables the brightness adjustment of the LCD monitor even when the camera is connected to another device via an HDMI cable.

Some of the customers that recently bought a new Canon EOS 5D Mark III camera reported that it came with the latest 1.2.3 Firmware version pre-installed.

However, Firmware 1.2.3 does more than what we just mentioned above. For more on the fixes and improvements, below is the full changelog:

- Fixes a phenomenon in which the flash may not fire depending on the timing of when the shutter button is pressed. - Fixes a phenomenon in which the AF microadjustment value may change. - Fixes a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor may show a line of false color along boundaries of high contrast. - Fixes a phenomenon in which the histogram of a LiveView image is incorrectly displayed when an HDMI cable is connected. - Enables the brightness of the camera's LCD monitor to be adjusted even when an HDMI cable is connected.

That being said, you can download the new Canon EOS 5D Mark III Firmware 1.2.3 now.
