Canon EOS-1D C is said to be world's first 4K capable digital SLR camera and yesterday, the Japanese manufacturer, announced that the EOS-1D C has been tested in accordance with EBU's (European Broadcasting Union) HD Tier 1 standards.

The results of the test indicates that EOS-1D C “provides ‘exceptional’ HD resolution from a 4K source with ‘very low’ aliasing, and ‘good’ color performance and motion portrayal” which qualifies it for inclusion in HD Tier 1 for HD production.

Today Canon has released new firmware versions for most of their Cinema Cameras including C100, C300, C300 PL and EOS-1D C. The new firmware adds enhanced flicker reduction, sound recording with line input, as well as peripheral and chromatic aberration correction for select Canon cinema lenses.

Unfortunately, the only way to update your Canon EOS-1D C camera firmware is to send your DSLR to Canon USA where they will update your firmware free of charge.
