It seems that stock for the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens is almost depleted, and in some parts of the world it might be quite difficult to find one available for purchase.

According to NL, a few sources state that Canon is preparing to announce a makeover of this popular lens that will benefit from new optics and Canon's IS (Image Stabilizer) technology.

If we take into consideration the latest rumors, Canon will release quite a few new lenses next year, including two new 24-70mm, Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II and, why not, a new, stabilized version of the classic 400mm f/5.6L lens.

For the moment you can still purchase this lens from various retailers including Amazon, B&H, Adorama, or Canon Store. Whether this rumor is true or not remains to be seen in the coming months.
