Beside rolling out the Rebel T3i (also known as EOS 600D in other parts of the world) and T3 DSLR cameras, Canon has also outed today no less than four PowerShot compact digital cameras, three of which, however, are mostly just slightly improved rebadges of some of the models Canon already had in store.

So, first and foremost, the company reveals that all the new PowerShot ELPH models have now instituted a “HS” suffix to represent the inclusion of the HS SYSTEM in each model, that, by combining the DIGIC 4 Image Processor with a High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor, manages to reduce noise at high ISO levels and expand the camera's dynamic range.

The cameras affected by this change of name are the PowerShot ELPH 500 HS, ELPH 300 HS and ELPH 100 HS Digital cameras, all of which offer an interesting set of features for consumers, including here Full HD video recording and plenty of user-friendly photo shooting options.

The Canon PowerShot ELPH 500 HS features a 3.2-inch touch-panel LCD screen, coupled with a bright f/2.0 lens, a 12.1-Megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor along with a 4.4X Optical Zoom with Optical Image Stabilizer and an ultra-wide angle 24mm equivalent lens.

Next in line comes the ELPH 300 HS model, sporting a 12.1-Megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor, 5X Optical Zoom, an ultra-wide angle 24mm equivalent lens along with a 2.7-inch LCD screen and red, black and silver color options.

Last, but certainly not least, comes the ELPH 100 HS, sporting a 12.1-Megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor, 4X Optical Zoom, a wide angle 28mm equivalent lens and 3.0-inch LCD screen.

The fourth PowerShot camera released by Canon is the SX230 HS, that combines a 12.1-megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS Sensor with a powerful 14X Optical Zoom with Optical Image Stabilization, while also including a wide-angle 28mm equivalent lens and a GPS module, for geo-tagging the photos.

According to Canon, the SX230 HS and the PowerShot ELPH 500 HS are scheduled to be available at the end of March for the estimated retail price of $349.99 and $299.99, respectively, while the ELPH 300 HS and 100 HS should hit the shelves in mid-March for $249.99 and $199.99 respectively.
