The photographic event of the year you have all been waiting for – Photokina 2014 – is closing in on us at a face pace. All major tech players in the industry are expected to make an appearance in Germany next week and show their greatest and latest.

Canon specifically has a lot of goodies for us this year. It’s been five years since Canon has launched the 7D camera, but the shooter remains a true sweetheart for professional photographers and videographers.

However, this will change soon, because Canon is gearing up to launch the much-awaited successor, the 7D Mark II. We were expecting this to happen, so it’s not really a shock. However, until today the face of the shooter was shrouded in a veil of mystery.

Say hello to the Canon 7D Mark II

Not anymore, because Digicame-info just leaked the first image showing the camera plus a bunch of extra specs, which confirm what we knew before. So behold what will be upon us in a few days!

Anyway, jumping back to the specs, the camera is built around an upgraded 20MP CMOS sensor, which works in concert with a new 65-point autofocus system and dual DIGIC 6 image processors.

The camera will take advantage of rugged magnesium alloy body, is dust proof and weather-sealed, just like we knew all along.

It allows for continuous shooting to be performed 10 frames per second and has a max ISO of 16,000. Users will also be able to shoot video in full HD at 60p. Last but not least, the Canon 7D Mark should arrive with built-in GPS, an interval timer and a bulb timer.

As you can see, some info goes on par with what we knew before. For example, an earlier leak suggested that in the ISO department the machine could handle between 100 and 12,800 – numbers that could be bumped up to 51,200 using built-in settings.

The Canon EOS 7D Mark II has been expected for some time

The Canon EOS 7D Mark II has been in the rumor mill a lot. It reportedly popped up at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, where a select number of photographers were given the opportunity to test out the device.

Anyway, while we wait for the Canon 7D II to make an appearance at Photokina next week, maybe you’d like to know the Canon 7D is currently being offered with a price tag of $1,000 / €735 (body only), but as we get closer to the big event, we might see it drop lower.
