Recently, we have heard about quite a few innovations planned by Nippon camera and optics manufacturer Canon, and among them we can mention a 100x superzoom lens, AF automatic microadjustment, or the 16-120mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens.

According to Chinese forum Xitek, Canon plans to release a new 50mm f/1.8 lens that will feature image stabilization (IS) and ultrasonic motor (USM). Moreover, the new lens will come as a replacement for the old 50mm f/1.4 USM optic released back in 1993.

If we take a look at all current 50mm lenses that Canon has to offer, we can see that none of them (including 50mm f/1.2L) comes with IS.

It seems that the company is looking to expand its lens lineup to include more optics with image stabilization. Among other lenses that feature Canon's IS technology we can mention the 24mm f/2.8 IS USM, 28mm f/2.8 IS USM, or 35mm f/2.0 IS USM.
