14 DAY TRIAL // This past weekend, a couple of nature enthusiasts in the UK got a whole lot more than they bargained for when they set out to explore a forest hoping to find some mushrooms and instead found an outdoor cannabis farm.
Having found the cannabis farm, the couple took the time to snap some photos of it before finally alerting authorities. Some of these photos were shared with the public and are included in the gallery below.
Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of luck
The police officers handling the case say the two lovebirds came across the outdoor cannabis farm this past weekend. Thus, it was on Saturday that the couple decided to go in search of mushrooms and instead found marijuana plants.
The suburban woodland that 35-year-old Oscar Lerin and his girlfriend ventured in goes by the name Epping Forest. It is located in south-east England, on the border between north-east Greater London and Essex.
The couple is understood to have found the cannabis farm not far from a local school. Apparently, they only stumbled upon it because they dared venture a wee further than the well-established path. What first drew their attention was the smell.
“The smell was really strong so I knew it could be nothing else. It was very close to the path, behind a big bush. I think there was around 60 or 70 plants,” 35-year-old Oscar Lerin said in a statement, as cited by Daily Mail.
“It was funny. We couldn't believe it. We were like, 'Really? Is this real?' We never expected to see something like that in a public forest. We like nature and we went to Epping Forest to have a walk and have a look at mushrooms and identify them,” he added.
Somebody was taking really good care of this farm
The dozens of marijuana plants that Oscar Lerin found in this corner of the UK were all fully grown when the couple found them. What's more, it appears that, before the police got to them, they enjoyed loads of TLC for a considerable period of time.
Thus, word has it that the plants got their nutrients from a thick layer of soil placed on top of a sheet of plastic. Hence, it's safe to assume that whomever brought them to the area wanted them to grow as big and as potent as possible.
For the time being, the police officers in charge of investigating this case have refused to make any comments concerning the couple's find. An investigation is ongoing. Hopefully, it will not be long until authorities track down the cannabis farm's caretaker.
