“I am healthy and happy,” Candice Swanepoel says, denying reports of an eating disorder

Only a couple of days ago, Candice Swanepoel, an Angel for Victoria’s Secret, shocked fans with her slim, almost emaciated body, sparking talk of an eating disorder. That’s not the case, she says in a statement to People magazine, she’s just been busier recently.

At a photo event for the lingerie brand, Candice posed with Angels Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio, which made her slim frame stand out even more.

She’s always been a thin girl but it looked like she’d lost so much weight she couldn’t possibly be healthy, voices online were saying about her, as we also reported at the time.

Candice admits she’s lost some weight, but she says she remains healthy, she’s not starving herself, contrary to what rumors may be saying.

“I am healthy and happy. I’m heartened to know how much everyone cares about me, but in this case, everything is normal and good,” the model says in her statement.

In a previous interview, also cited by People, Candice said that her weight varied according to how busy and stressed out she was. This is clearly the case here, it would seem.

“I’ve been traveling around like crazy. I get skinnier if I’m very busy,” she said at the time.

At the same time, reports in the media (cited by E! Online) suggest that Candice may lose her job if she gets any thinner or if she doesn’t go back to her previous weight.

Victoria’s Secret is all about promoting a toned, healthy and, most importantly, curvy body image, it wants nothing to do with size 0 women.

If Candice doesn’t get her curves back or if she continues to lose weight, she will most certainly be fired as Angel.

“The image is about being voluptuous, it’s not fat, but it’s curvy. But if you start to look skinny and ‘editorial print-like’ like fashion mag models, like undernourished, it gives the image the company does not want,” an insider explains for E!.

“Their shopper is older, their target is the Macy’s shopper. These are young women who feel pressure these models, she [Swanepoel] could lose her contract if she gets too thin,” the tipster adds.
