Some of the worst diseases of this century is cancer and thousands of people around the planet are battling with it in order to remain close to their loved ones for one more day.

Mimi Foundation in collaboration with photographer Vincent Dixon decided to bring a smile on the face of 20 cancer patients inviting them to a unique makeover session.

Called “If only for a second,” this photography project aimed to create 20 unique portraits, depicting the patients in an entire new light. To achieve that, the photographer asked every patient to keep their eyes closed during the entire makeover process.

After being placed in front of a mirror, the patients were asked to open their eyes, process that triggered a natural, emotional reaction from each one of them at the moment they saw their reflection in the mirror.

On the other side of the mirror, the photographer managed to capture some of the most amazing reactions of the patients who, for a moment, forgot about their illness and burst into laughter at the sight of their hilarious makeovers.

The photoshoot concluded with a 60-page book titled “If only for a second” that contains a set of emotional pictures with each of the 20 participants.

Every photo in the book comes with a caption as well as the date, time and the exact second when the person forgot about their illness. The idea behind the entire project was to spread smiles and happiness to all the patients as well as the readers of the book.

These are just a few sample pictures, but you can see more of them on official Mimi Foundation project page.
