“After a decade-long run, Camino is no longer being developed,” say developers

The team behind the free web browser Camino is sad to announce that development on the platform has ceased, mainly due to competition from more advanced web browsers on the market.

“After a decade-long run, Camino is no longer being developed, and we encourage all users to upgrade to a more modern browser,” Stuart Morgan writes on the Caminobrowser.org site.

He notes that their browser is lagging behind in features and security, “making it increasingly unsafe to use.”

The team advises Mac users to adopt more modern solutions, such as Chrome, Firefox, and Apple’s own Safari. They leave out Opera, and I can think of a couple of reasons why they’d do that.

However, you can always rely on Softpedia to hand you both new and old pieces of software. The discontinued Camino remains a free download on our site, and you can always check back in to grab it for your Mac.
