Mark Jacobs, co-founder of Mythic Entertainment, the company that developed the highly-acclaimed Dark Age of Camelot MMORPG, has just kicked off a funding campaign for his new project called “Camelot Unchained.”

“Camelot Unchained” is a tri-realm MMORPG developed by Mark Jacobs' City State Entertainment company, which was founded back in 2011.

The game aims to be subscription-based and is set to be released on December 2015, if the Kickstarter funding campaign is successful.

Given the niche target of the game, City State Entertainment is asking $2 million / €1.57 million in order to deliver the game, but this will not be the title's full budget.

According to Jacobs, he will personally pledge $2 million / €1.57 million of his own money, if the game is funded. In addition, he also confirmed other investors are willing to contribute a further $1 million / €779K when the necessary amount is raised on Kickstarter.

This means that Camelot Unchained's budget will be at least $5 million / €3.9 million in case enough money is raised via Kickstarter.

As we mentioned earlier, Camelot Unchained is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) set in a newly re-imagined version of the Arthurian/ pan-European mythos.

The game will be focused on three concepts: Tri-Realm RvR, housing and crafting. What does this mean? This means that players will not level up while doing PvE (player vs. environment) quests, instead the game features full RvR-based leveling tracks for all classes.

There will be no loot drops from NPCs, no redeemable tokens and no auction house where players can purchase and sell loot.

The loot part of the game has been ingeniously covered by introducing a dedicated crafting class. Players who choose this class won't be able to fight and will only level their character by crafting a wide range of items, such as weapons, armor, siege equipment and more.

These items can be sold from players' own shops or specially designed bazaars throughout the game.

Aside from the crafting class, the game will also include a tank, a dps, a healer and a hybrid class. Three races will be available at launch: Arthurians, Tuatha Dé Danann and Vikings. Each race is on its own realm and will have to do battle with the other two races in order to survive.

The game as a whole looks extremely tempting and has quite a lot of innovative stuff that sets it apart from other MMORPGs. The pledge tiers look pretty cool as well, so go pledge here.
