A Cambridge mother was kicked out of a cinema after taking her 11-week-old baby daughter with her to a screening of a 15-rated movie.

Sam Ross was ordered to leave the cinema because she was “breaking the law” by bringing her baby to Nicholas Stoller’s raunchy comedy “Bad Neighbors.” The 30-year-old mom went to Vue cinema in Cambridge with a friend, and they were planning to catch up and spend some time together watching the aforementioned film.

They were both outraged when staff at the cinema approached them and asked them to leave before the film started, although she was sold a ticket and nobody seemed to consider the baby's presence as a problem.

“It was totally humiliating, we were escorted out,” Mrs. Ross told the Daily Mail. “I was really looking forward to watching the movie and catching up with a friend. As a new parent I don't get out that often and it can be difficult to find things you can do with friends.”

She also explained that, given her daughter's age, the baby was completely unaware of what was going on around her, and nobody seemed to be bothered by her presence there.

“If she was screaming and interrupting everyone I would totally understand and would never stay in the cinema, but she was completely fine,” the infuriated woman said.

But even though the 11-week-old girl was too young to understand any film, Vue cinema stressed that it had a strict policy when it comes to age limits, so rules must be enforced even for infants. A spokesman for the movie theater said the woman should not have been sold a ticket, as official guidelines specifically mention that small children are only allowed in to U, PG and 12A-rated films.

“On this particular occasion the customer should have been advised that babies are not permitted into 15 certificate films and declined the sale,” he said.

Mrs. Ross confirmed that she was eventually refunded the full price of the ticket, but only after a heated argument with the branch’s manager.

“Bad Neighbors” is a 15-rated comedy starred by Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne. It tells the story of a young couple with a newborn daughter, that pass through several failed attempts to maintain their old lifestyle. They are forced to live next to a fraternity house after the birth of their newborn baby, which leads to a series of hilarious scenes.
