For something priced at $189 / €137, it would be odd if it weren't so high-quality

Digital to analog converters are used fairly often, but most of them come with the catch of reduced sound quality. Not so for the Cambridge Audio DacMagic XS.

That, at least, is the message that Cambridge Audio seems to relay in its announcement of the DacMagic XS pint-sized Digital to Analog Converter.

The newcomer is a USB DAC that connects to a USB port and provides lossless, high-quality audio to whatever headphones or speakers you plug into the other end.

It could prove particularly useful and pleasant to streaming services such as Spotify and Pandora, or voice conferencing programs like Skype. Games and films will sound crystal clear too.

All in all, according to Cambridge Audio, their DacMagic XS can provide the same level of sound quality as a Hi-Fi (high fidelity) audio setup. For the price of $189 / €137, one might argue that nothing less would be acceptable.
