The Calligra Team, through Jarosław Staniek, was proud to announce today, April 2, that the second maintenance release of their Calligra office suite for KDE desktop environments has been released with a great number of improvements to the Krita digital painting software, for which we have a separate announcement.

According to the release notes, Calligra 2.9.2 is a bugfix release that re-enables the References and Review features that have been disabled in the previous version by mistake, repairs the “Can’t change footnotes style” bug, and addresses a crash that occurred after displaying the “Insert Bibliography” message a second time.

Additionally, a couple of bugs have been repaired that could crash the Calligra application when the number of columns on page was reduced, as well as when the user selected two or more tables and pressed the Ctrl+C (Copy) keyboard shortcut.

“The Calligra team has released version 2.9.2, a the bugfix release of the Calligra Suite, Calligra Active and the Calligra Office Engine,” says Jarosław Staniek in the official announcement for Calligra 2.9.2. “Updating the software is recommended to everybody.”

Krita, Kexi, and Calligra Words received various improvements

As mentioned, we have a separate article for the improvements implemented in the Krita software, so you should check it out on our Linux Homepage if you want to know what’s new. On the other hand, Kexi received a fix for an error that occurred when trying to configure Calligra, related to the Marble software, a fix for a crash that occurred when trying to remove elements in the object tree, a fix for an issue with displaying records in data-aware combo boxes, and another fix for combo-boxes, which will now display only a column in table and form views.

Calligra Words also received some improvements in this new point release of the office suite. For example, a crash has been repaired in the Format page, several memory leaks have been addressed, the sections were greatly improved, and the line number of cursor (statusbar) was modified to count lines of text instead of hard breaks.

Download Calligra 2.9.2 right now from Softpedia, where the project is distributed only as a source package, so we recommend waiting for the new version to appear in the mail software repositories of your GNU/Linux distribution. More details on how to try out Calligra can be found in the project’s website.
