On June 9, Calligra, through Jarosław Staniek, had the pleasure of announcing the immediate availability for download of the Calligra 2.9.5 open-source office suite for KDE desktop environments.

According to the release notes, the fifth maintenance release of Calligra 2.9 is here to fix an issue with lookup of templates, to address a crash that occurred when multiple templates were found, as well as to improve the usability of the Find toolbar that is used in Calligra Words.

The Kexi database creator software received several improvements and patches as well, such as enhancements to the data source combo box, a fix for a crash related to database queries, support for setting map properties via scripts in Maps elements, and support for passing two or three fields of data to an item in Reports.

Additionally, Kexi will no longer display two Project windows when the user double-clicks on the item from the Welcome page, and the ILIKE/NOT ILIKE operator is now used for PostgreSQL database queries instead of LIKE, which might increase the consistency with other database backends.

"We are pleased to announce that Calligra Suite, and Calligra Active 2.9.5 have just been released. This recommended update brings further improvements to the 2.9 series of the applications and underlying development frameworks," reads the announcement.

Krita received numerous improvements in Calligra 2.9.5

As expected, the Krita open-source digital painting software has received a significant number of improvements that we've lined up for you in a separate article. Therefore, we recommend reading it if you want to know what exactly has been changed in Krita 2.9.5.

Calligra 2.9.5 is available for download right via Softpedia or directly from the project's official website. However, most Linux users who already have Calligra installed on their operating systems should search for the updated version in the main software repositories of their distros.
