The latest version of Calligra comes numerous fixes

Calligra 2.8.1, an integrated suite of applications for office, creative, and management needs, has been released and is now available for download.

This version of Calligra, 2.8.1 is just a maintenance release for the massive updated that has made available just a couple of weeks ago. Almost all the components of Calligra have been updated to the 2.8.0 version, which means that this first point release is all about fixes.

The Calligra suite is actually composed of three major components: office applications (Words, Stage, Sheets, Flow, and Kexi), graphics applications, (Krita, Karbon), and project management (Plan).

“The Calligra team has released version 2.8.1, the first of the bugfix releases of the Calligra Suite, and Calligra Active in the 2.8 series. This release contains a few important bug fixes to 2.8.0 and we recommend everybody to update,” reads the official announcement.

Kexi, the database creator from the Calligra suite has received a number of fixes. For example, the table prefix when is no longer removed if it’s needed, a crash that occurred when exporting reports as a spread sheet document has been fixed, ‘NOT LIKE’ SQL operator support has been implemented for the kexi queries, and the sorting of tables in the CSV import dialog is now working well.

Krita, an application that is used to make digital painting files from scratch, is the application that received the most attention in this version and a lot fixes have been implemented. According to the changelog, a number of memory leaks have been fixed, the loading and executing macros have been corrected, single-layer CMYK images can now be correctly saved to PSD, the selection can now longer grow bigger than the image on invert, and the the Unsharp Mask filter is no longer being applied with an offset.

Also, tablet support has been added for MacOS, Mirror Mode is now working properly in Color Smudge and Filter ops, the Wrap-tool is now a lot less obstructive, the application no longer crashes when selecting a template with a stylus doubleclick, and a crash in the pixellize filter has been fixed.

The current version of the software also runs on mobile platforms, namely Calligra Mobile and Calligra Active. Users of any previous iterations have been asked to update as soon as possible, either by compiling the new build or by using the provided methods.
