Golden Telecom, Nokia and Betalink have announced yesterday a new joint project named "Call via Golden Wi-Fi" and based on VoIP technology. If you're buying the Nokia E65 multi-functional business smartphone between July 15 and October 15 from Betalink stores in Moscow, you will get as a gift a free access card that enables the "Call via Golden WiFi" service. With this service, anyone will be able to make unlimited phone calls to fixed terminals in Moscow and mobile terminals in the Moscow region. Moreover, somewhere in the near future Golden Telecom and Nokia will provide extended IP-telephony services through the Golden Wi-Fi network on a commercial basis.

Alessandro Fiorentino, General Director of Nokia Customer and Market Operations for the CIS, said: "We are happy to cooperate with Golden Telecom thanks to whom Nokia E65 users will be able to take advantage of a convenient communication service afforded by the VoIP technology."

E65 is one of the newest Nokia E-series smartphones, featuring Wi-Fi, VoIP and many other attractive functions. The phone can also permit access to personal and corporate mailboxes and can be integrated with corporate telephony systems like Avaya one-X Mobile Edition for Nokia or Nokia Intellisync Call Connect for Cisco and Alcatel.

"Call via Golden WiFi" comes as a one-of-a-kind service for Russia, therefore Golden Telecom and Nokia needed an experienced partner. That's why they selected Betalink, known for successfully introducing different new products on the Russian market. Free instructions about the use of VoIP technology are given in the Betalink stores to any interested client.

Jean-Pierre Vandromme, Chief Executive Officer at Golden Telecom, declared: "Deployment of IP telephony via the Golden Wi-Fi network, which has been recently recognized as the largest city Wi-Fi network in the world, is the continuation of our strategy to expand the scope of services available to Golden WiFi users. IP telephony facilitated by the Golden Wi-Fi network is soon to become an essential service that offers users an alternative access to long distance communications."

Golden Telecom provides high-standard integrated telecommunication and Internet services in Russia and other countries of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), while Betalink is a leading Russian seller of electronic goods.
