The organization wants to learn how media predicts trends

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare might be just a video game, but it seems that real life organizations are willing to look at its story and see a potential for the real world that might actually become fact in the coming years.

This might explain why the Atlantic Council, a well-known think tank in the United States, is recruiting Dave Anthony, a writer and director who is working on the first-person shooter series from publisher Activision, to become a non-resident fellow at the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security.

He will be directly involved with the new Art of Future Warfare project, which is designed to use inspiration from narrative fiction and interactive media in order to offer information about the way armed conflicts might evolve in the coming decades.

The Atlantic Council believes that many executives in the defense industry are rigid in their thinking and hopes that the contact with a new set of visions and assumptions will allow them to re-evaluate their ideas and change the course of their organizations.

Dave Antony is quoted by Gamasutra as saying that “My focus is on what we can do, and what we are not thinking about in terms of how we can be proactive about preparing for [future conflicts], or even preventing them from happening.”

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is focused on the exo-skeleton

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is developed by Sledgehammers Games and breaks with the traditional themes of the franchise in one big way.

The action now takes place in 2054, and this means gamers have access to a wide array of futuristic weapons, including an exo-skeleton and energy-based rifles.

The focus on the way future wars will look will also extend to the single-player story, which will be longer than that of Ghosts and will include more emotional moments.

The developers are also making big changes to the multiplayer, with two entirely new modes and an experience which will focus on the mobility delivered by the new technology and on giving players a range of options for their characters.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be out for the normal gamers on November 4 on the PC, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and last-gen consoles, and hardcore fans can pick up the Day Zero edition which will be available 24 hours earlier and will deliver double the experience points for those who play during that period.
