A great success for Activison

The Call of Duty franchise continues to be one of Activision's flagship products, as almost anything remotely related to it seems to achieve big sales left and right. Such is the case with the first pack of downloadable content for the latest iteration in the series, Call of Duty: World at War, which has broken through the two-million-download mark.

The cleverly entitled Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 has exceeded even the most optimistic expectations and, after achieving one million downloads in its first week, is now going even stronger and has been purchased by eager CoD players over two million times. This just goes to prove that multiplayer maps, combined with a new scenario for the Nazi Zombie mode, are a recipe for success.

“This is a huge milestone and we are so appreciative of our incredibly supportive community who continue to play and enjoy the game,” Mark Lamia, studio head of Treyarch, said. “We’re hard at work on Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 and look forward to delivering that in June.”

The already announced second map pack is certain to break even more records, as it will introduce three new multiplayer maps and a new scenario for the Zombie mode, this time pitting undead Imperial soldiers against the users who want to play this mode cooperatively.

For those who still haven't purchased this first piece of DLC and want to make Activision even richer, you can still find it on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 MS Points, or on the PlayStation Store for 9.99 dollars or 7.99 pounds sterling. Until the second map pack hits, though, have fun with the ones you currently have available for all of the modes of this very successful game.
