The Call of Duty franchise is one of the most acclaimed and popular series of first-person shooter games out there. Created by Infinity Ward and now shared by the publisher Activision between that studio and Treyarch, the series is getting more and more popular these days thanks to the Call of Duty: World at War title and the upcoming Modern Warfare 2 game.

After achieving some big sales, Treyarch's CoD World at War title became even more popular with the release of the first DLC Map Pack, which arrived a few months ago and registered some record breaking figures, showing that players were eager to test out the new maps for the multiplayer and Nazi zombie modes.

Now, the team at the Treyarch studio has just announced that the second DLC Map Pack will arrive in June, containing three new maps for the multiplayer mode and a new one for the Zombies mode, which will replace the undead Nazis from Germany with the undead Imperial soldiers from Japan.

“Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 2 underscores Treyarch's commitment to delivering ongoing support, and new multiplayer and co-op Zombie gameplay experiences for our players,” said Treyarch Studio Head Mark Lamia. “Our community has been outstanding and has driven support for Map Pack 1, as well as demand for additional downloadable content like Map Pack 2.”

Here are the maps that this pack will contain, which is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game: “Battle to control the river bridge in “Banzai” - a bright jungle map featuring a waterfall and hidden caves. In “Corrosion” face down your enemy in a shattered train yard, and in “Sub Pens” wipe the monsoon rain from your eyes as you struggle over a bombed-out submarine base. The Zombies make a return in “Shi No Numa” (Zombie Swamp) featuring Perk machines, the deadly new Wunderwaffe DG-2, new Achievements / Trophies and flaming Hell Hounds!”

All in all, this new map pack looks extremely interesting and will certainly generate a nice profit for Activision, just as the first one.
