We've heard a lot about the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 first person shooter, coming from studios Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games, including many details about the multiplayer, but the CEO of Sledgehammer, Glen Schofield, has now talked about the single-player campaign in the new shooter.

The Call of Duty series established itself on its addictive multiplayer but its stories haven't been all that bad, even if some were rather short, like the one in Modern Warfare 2.

With the third installment in the Modern Warfare spinoff series, Activision, its publisher, together with Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games are working "like crazy" to polish up the campaign, not just the multiplayer mode, which has seen a massive amount of details appear after the Call of Duty XP conference last week.

According to Sledgehammer CEO Glen Schofield, the length of a single-player playthrough of the campaign depends on the actual player but, at least in the eyes of him and most of his team, it's longer that the one in Modern Warfare 2.

He revealed a few more details about the story to CVG, including the desire of both development teams to deliver a great experience not just in the online mode.

"The single-player campaign has been in the bag for around a month or so, and we've been polishing it like crazy, getting to very minute details. We're finishing up the in-between movies, to make sure we're telling a story from front to back, so people walk away saying 'not only was it a great, epic, cinematic experience but, what a good story'. That's where we are right now."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to arrive on November 8 and include a variety of new features as opposed to previous games in the series, not to mention full integration for Call of Duty Elite, the new online service designed for fans of the franchise, which can be accessed for free or for a premium membership that costs $49.99 a year.
