A fan site that focuses on the first-person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has posted information showing that at least one gamer who cheated in the game has received a 5,000 day ban, which translates into about 15 years, from the developers at Infinity Ward.

Robert Bowling, who is the creative director at the development team and handles communication for Modern Warfare 3, confirmed the number, saying, “If you see this message, it means you’ve been Permabanned (for something bad).”

It will be interesting to see whether the affected players will pop in their Modern Warfare 3 disk in after the ban expires just to see whether Infinity Ward has any sort of reaction.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 owes much of its popularity to its multiplayer modes and the developer and publisher take all the measures in order to keep the environment as competitive and cheat free as possible.
