The upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has a completely revised killstreak system, as the community strategist of its developer, Infinity Ward, confirmed through Twitter that the team has completely overhauled how the system works.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 impressed a lot of gamers through the multiplayer mode, but what really made it stand out was the killstreak system, which rewarded players with special abilities or powers each time they killed multiple enemies in a row. These ranged from calling in air strikes to just more upgrades for your weapons.

The system was replicated by Treyarch in last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops, but it seems that Infinity Ward is preparing something even more special for the next Modern Warfare game it has in co-development with Sledgehammer Games.

According to Robert Bowling, the community strategist over at Infinity Ward, the teams have completely revised the killstreak system.

"We changed the entire way the killstreak system works," Bowling said on his Twitter account. "I can't go into detail yet, but I will share when I can."

As you can imagine, a huge amount of other questions regarding these changes followed, but Bowling remained coy, saying that we'll find out more about the new system when the time is right.

Considering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is scheduled to arrive on November 8, it's a safe bet that more information about this new system will be out in the next couple of months, so that players can brush up on their strategies before its release.

Bowling also confirmed that the cooperative Spec Ops missions can be played by just one gamer, but there are plenty of other options, including online or offline cooperative modes, through splitscreen functionality.

Expect more details about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and its array of new features in the following months, before it's released for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.
