14 DAY TRIAL // Several retailers have pinned a price on the Hardened Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which will be sold to loyal fans of the series for $99, and includes a lot of extra goodies and features.
Fans of the Call of Duty series were treated with a flood of details about the franchise from last weekend's Call of Duty XP convention, where we found out almost all there is to know about the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer mode or the new Call of Duty: Elite service.
Now, even if the contents of the Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition were already leaked last week, Activision has released an official statement, while retailers have pinned an exact price tag on the special edition.
Modern Warfare 3, like previous Call of Duty titles, will arrive not only in the regular edition, but also in Hardened and Prestige ones, each with unique features and extras.
The Hardened edition will retail for $99.99, at least according to stores like GameStop, and includes a variety of things, all listed below:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game with unique disc art. - One year of membership in Call of Duty Elite. - "Founder status" on Elite with exclusive in-game emblem, player card, camouflage, clan XP boost and other exclusive benefits. - SteelBook case. - PlayStation Network exclusive: "Animated Timeline Theme." - Xbox 360 exclusive: "Special Ops Juggernaut Xbox Live Outfit." - Limited-edition "field journal" with more than 100 pages of "authentic military sketches, diagrams and written entries." The most important feature highlighted above is the one-year membership into Call of Duty Elite, the new online service from Activision for fans of the series, which was confirmed to cost $50 per year. As such, buyers of the Hardened Edition get a $10 discount for the Elite membership, and all the privileges it comes with, like free and exclusive access to special maps and all the downloadable content that will be released for Modern Warfare 3.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be out for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, on November 8, just like the regular game.
