The first person shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, from developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision Blizzard, has managed to take home the number one position in the United Kingdom chart for the week that ended on November 13, beating the new Elder Scrolls game in the process.
Despite its top position
Modern Warfare 3 has not managed to reach the same sales numbers, both in terms of copies and value, that were set by its predecessor, Black Ops, during the same period of 2010.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the open world first person role playing game from Bethesda, has managed to take second place, also during its first week, while former top spot holder, Battlefield 3, from DICE and Electronic Arts, has lost two places and landed on the last place on the podium.
Unsurprisingly
FIFA 12 is continuing to do very well more than one month after its launch date and sits in fourth, down just one place for the week, while Just Dance 3, the rhythm game from Ubisoft, seems to be glued to the fifth position in the United Kingdom video game chart.
In the second half of the top ten the drops are more precipitous, with Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony, going from second place to sixth, while Batman: Arkham City, from Warner Bros and Rocksteady, also dropped four places to reach eight coming from fourth.
Moshi Monsters: Moshling Zoo, from Mind Candy, is a surprising entry in seventh place, between the above two blockbusters, while Zumba Fitness from 505 Games is in ninth place.
Wii Party from Nintendo closes down the top ten, pointing to the fact that Christmas is coming and gamers are turning to the Wii and its main titles as presents.
Forza Motorsport 4, the new Spyro game and Football Manager 2012 are out of the top ten.
