Activision's next Call of Duty game might actually be Modern Warfare 3, as one of the game's voice actors, Craig Fairbrass, who played Gaz and Ghost in the first two games, confirmed working with the studio on its next project.

Activision has been silent about its next Call of Duty game, preferring to focus on the existing Black Ops and the downloadable content released for it, the First Strike map pack, which appeared in February, and Escalation, which was launched on the Xbox 360 yesterday.

Now, it seems that the company is set to announce the new game at the beginning of next week, on May 9, when it is scheduled to reveal its quarterly financial results to investors.

The reveal, which will most probably be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, has also been teased by Craig Fairbrass, the voice of Modern Warfare 1's Gaz and Modern Warfare 2's Ghost.

He spoke with TalkSport, via CVG, and revealed that he did recent work with Activision for a new game, but that he can't go into details.

"I did Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as Gaz and then I did Ghost in Modern Warfare 2, which has become one of the most iconic figures in the history of computer games, which is great. And I've just been out in LA doing something that's going to be announced in May... I've just been out there doing some bits and pieces and one of it's to do with... I can't say too much."

Fairbrass described the recording process and how Activision took him on a tour of its development studio in order to see just how the new game was taking shape.

Earlier rumors said that the company is pooling its resources in order to get Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 ready for its release this fall, so not only is franchise creator Infinity Ward working on it, but it is also being helped by Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games, two other internal Activision studios.

We still can't say for sure whether the next Call of Duty game will be announced next week, but it's a pretty good possibility that Activision will try to capture the attention of investors with such an announcement.

Battlefield 3 is stealing the limelight now with amazing footage; what else does Activision have to offer?? I'm glad Fairbrass is back for MW3 - let's hope his character lives longer!

I hope that the new game will give you weapons based not on rank but your ability to earn challenges to unlock the next weapon.

Another thing they need to seriously think about is the addition of a new type set of weapons, the Trick Shot Guns. It is actually possible to quickscope with a shotgun in real life and hunting rifles.

My personal favorite for guns to be added to Call of Duty MW3 is the .50 cal Beowulf assault rifle, McMillan tac 50 sniper rifle and the use of the BTR as a killstreak.

this game will * battlefield 3 out of the water. call of duty is the most successful entertainment series in history. when they start to release footage and information about it, then battlefield will try to drop ASAP to try to make any money possible. but they need to keep the wager matches and the currency system like black ops.
