Higher resolution textures and better effects are used by the custom PC edition

Call of Duty: Ghosts developer Infinity Ward admitted that, while the next-gen console version of the shooter will look great on the PS4 and Xbox One, it'll still be eclipsed by the PC edition, which is now a standalone product.

Call of Duty titles have always placed a bigger emphasis on framerate than graphics and this resulted in some not so great-looking installments on the PC platform.

With Ghosts, however, Infinity Ward has confirmed to Kotaku that the PC version has its own set of high quality assets, instead of reusing those from the PS3 or Xbox 360 editions.

This means that, while the PS3, Xbox 360, and WIi U editions of the game will look good, the next-gen editions will look much better, while the PC will be the best.

"It's going to look better than any Call of Duty we've ever made on PC," Infinity Ward boss Mark Lamia said. "They're actually using an even higher version in many cases than the next-gen consoles, from a texture standpoint."

Besides the graphics, however, Lamia assured fans that there will be no major differences between the games on different platforms.
