Call of Duty: Ghosts, the next installment in the first-person shooter series made by Activision, won't have over-the-top violence, as developer Infinity Ward believes it's better to have a classy style that doesn't do gruesome things for shock value.

The Call of Duty games have been criticized for overly violent sequences, such as Modern Warfare 2's infamous No Russian level.

While talking about Call of Duty: Ghosts, the next installment in the series, Infinity Ward's Lead Animator, Zack Volker, revealed to The Guardian that the studio wants a classy type of violence.

"Infinity Ward titles use what we call classy violence. We try to stay away from the over-the-top in your face violence… no one's going to strangle someone and force you to watch it - that's not our style. We wanted to make sure we use the level of fidelity for something that's worth more than shock value."

The improved engine will be able to depict much more detailed scenes in Ghosts, so players are certainly going to feel more affected by the single-player campaign.
