Call of Duty: Ghosts, the first-person shooter from developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision, has managed to take the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart for the week that ended on November 9.

This is the first seven-day period that the title was on sale and the main engine for the impressive sales, which have already generated more than 1 billion dollars (756 million Euro) worldwide, is the multiplayer mode and its new set of unlocks and customization options.

Call of Duty: Ghosts has managed to stay one position ahead of its main autumn rival, Battlefield 4 from developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts, and it will be interesting to see how the two titles perform in the long term.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the stealth and action game from Ubisoft, is in third place this week, which is two places down when compared with the previously tracked period, according to UKIE.

FIFA 14, the football simulation from EA Sports, has lost one place to land in fourth place and will probably bounce back to third or second after the initial popularity of other big releases fades.

Grand Theft Auto V, from Rockstar and Take Two, is in fifth position, also losing one place over the previous week, but has managed to perform better than Batman: Arkham Origins, which was created and launched by Warner Bros.

WWE 2K14, the wrestling simulation from Deep Silver, is in seventh place and is followed by the Xbox 360 version of indie hit Minecraft, which is still getting access to updates and new content add-ons.

Football Manager 2014, from publisher SEGA and developer Sports Interactive, is in ninth place and the United Kingdom top ten is closed down by the new Swap Force version of Skylanders, which allows players to mix and match creatures and powers.
