No more four-player local split-screen in Call of Duty, apparently

Call of Duty: Ghosts has reduced the number of players it supports in its local split-screen mode from four to just two, at least according to a cover of the game's PS4 edition.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the next iteration in the popular first-person shooter series and the first to appear not just on current-gen consoles like the PS3 or Xbox 360, but also on next-gen ones like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Besides introducing a much more powerful engine and quite a few major improvements, the game still makes some sacrifices on the next-gen consoles, at least according to a cover of the PlayStation 4 edition.

As you can see in the image above, via Kotaku, Ghosts has a local split-screen mode but it supports just two players, instead of the traditional four, as seen in previous games.

Neither developer Infinity Ward nor Activision has motivated this change in terms of local split-screen play.
